O! Thy random posts!

1. Things that amuse me, part one: The Vatican ought to have a pastry shop called "Donut Nobis Pacem," don't you think? (See Dona Nobis Pacem to get stupid joke.)

2. Things that amuse me, part two: Jim Carrey on how his union with Jenny McCarthy has been dubbed "Jimeny": "To be part of that tradition is amazing, to be TomKat and Brangelina, and going back to Markapatra and Napolephine. So, it’s not such a bad thing, really!" Hee hee.

3. Doctor-definitely-not-Dr-or-Il-Dottore-or-Doc Who: Have watched the first Eccleston/Piper disc so far, all of three episodes. I like it! I don't love it yet, but of course I need to time to get invested. Still, Simon Callow as Dickens was a treat; and as to "The End of the World" all I can say is: They had me at "Tainted Love." That's the kind of irreverent silliness I can approve of. (And it's probably the exact point at which several of you decided the new series sucked, which is your right, but I do love me some off-the-wall dorkiness.) Anyway, neither of the leads bother me, but Eccleston does look a lot like a former boss I had, which is disturbing, so I won't mind Tennant taking over.

4. I have this sort of ambitious Halloween idea of getting you guys to send me little sound files of you reading a pre-assigned line of some traditional ghostly tale like "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow", which I would then splice together into a cool LJ-people Halloween voice montage. If interested and able to record your voice into a tidy mp3, go ahead and comment and we'll see if the idea flies. [Edit: Voice posts work. I think this can fly!]

Markapatra and Napolephine

Gods, Jim Carrey is so much cooler than people give him credit for.

Indeed, and smarter. I loved him in the "serious" roles like The Truman Show and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind too. He has range, I tell you! Range!

I'd totally do the mp3 thing.

I have no idea how to record onto my computer as an MP3 but if you go with this idea I will find a way.

Actually, I just managed to download one of your phone voice posts as mp3, so we can always do it that way. This could work! Whee!

I adored Christopher Eccleston as The Doctor and I still miss him, though I do like David Tennant, too. Eccleston had the greatest smile as The Doctor. It was also fun to see him running around on "Heroes" last year. Hope he comes back this season, too!

My favorite celebrity marriage is Filliam H. Muffman.

Hm, I could perhaps do it - I have a microphone, but I don't know how to record stuff. If I can work it out I will do it, and add that British class you clearly want for such a project. ;)

I would need as much British class as possible, yes! :) And voice posts seem to be save-able as mp3s, so we could probably do them that way if nothing else.

Hehehe. DW won me over in the Dickens ep, too, when Dickens goes "What the Shakespeare [is that]?" I giggled my ass off and I was lost forever! Haha.

Also, Jim Carrey pwns with that remark. Awesomepants.

"What the Shakespeare [is that]?"

Hee! Yes--took us a second, but then we giggled quite a bit. Clever.

There is something about Eccleston that I can't wrap my ever-lovin' Doctor Who mind around. Billie Piper has grown on me though. I'm catching up on season two and I actually find the triangle between Ten-Rose-Mickey Smith amusing... Mickey tells Ten "You can only run after one of us. It will be Rose. It will always be Rose" or something like that. Unlike many fans, I'm not a "shipper" when it comes to Rose and the Doctor--there is a character later on that I think is much more suitable and much more interesting.

Torchwood has really grown on me as well.

Yeah, so far I'm not seeing that Rose would make a good romantic mate for the Doctor, but maybe that's precisely because I've read so many posts from various people saying it won't happen. :) She's likeable enough, though; or at least not annoying, which is sufficient for watching purposes.

Cool! I'll probably do another post to make it more official, and will have to choose the appropriate material in the meantime.

I guarantee that by the end of the series you'll be sad to see Eccleston go. Tennant is good, but Eccleston's Doctor I thoroughly fell in love with.

I fell in love with Doctor #1...No, wait...I fell in love with Vicki. She is teh SEX. Eccleston was just a poopyhead. :P
